SUMMARY:Looking Back\, Looking Ahead: Developing and Sustaining Community-Based Pedagogy at ACM Campuses
DESCRIPTION:The Associated Colleges of the Midwest is proud to sponsor this summative conference to mark the conclusion of ACM’s Collaboration to Institutionalize High-Impact Practices in the Liberal Arts\, an initiative funded by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations in 2018. \nThe conference is designed for ACM faculty/staff who have previously led or are interested in developing and sustaining community-based pedagogies\, including those who previously received ACM funds to support these initiatives. Member campuses may select up to three participants from their faculty and staff. During the two-day meeting\, those who join us will: \n\nReflect on our individual experiences supporting community-engaged work on our campuses and collectively surface and discuss best practices.\nDocument shared insights from our experiences to aid ACM faculty and staff in their future community-based partnerships and projects.\nIdentify strategies to assess student learning and the benefits to community partners.\nDiscuss best practices for disseminating project outcomes and pedagogical insights in academic journals and other venues.\nBuild action plans for sustaining ongoing projects or launching new ones.\nLearn about potential funding opportunities and other resources to support current and future community-based learning efforts at your college.\n\nThanks to generous financial support from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations\, ACM is positioned to cover and/or reimburse all expenses associated with participation in the workshop\, including roundtrip travel to Chicago\, meals\, and up to two nights of hotel accommodation. We ask that selected participants please register on or before Thursday\, August 29.
