Prices Announced for ACM Off-Campus Study Programs in 2012-13

Prices Announced for ACM Off-Campus Study Programs in 2012-13 February 16, 2012

The 2012-13 pricing for ACM’s off-campus study programs around the world has been approved and is now posted online. To see pricing and cost information, go to the ACM program costs page.  You may also visit each program’s webpage and click on the “Cost” link on the left-hand side of the page.

ACM operates programs for undergraduates in Botswana, Brazil, Costa Rica, India, Italy, Mexico, Tanzania, the U.K., and the U.S. Most of the programs are semester-length, but several also offer quarter/trimester options and two of the programs operate during the summer. The consortium also has partnerships with the Japan Study program and the Oak Ridge Science Semester.

The detailed cost information for each ACM program includes:

  • Educational costs;
  • Program fee;
  • An estimate of a student’s out-of-pocket expenses on the program, and
  • A sample list of personal purchases at the program site to help students estimate their day-to-day spending and plan their budgets.

There is also a scholarship resource page with links to information about outside scholarships and college-specific scholarships that may be available for eligible students.

Students should be aware that the total amount they must pay to participate in an off-campus study program can vary from college to college, as does the availability of financial aid for off-campus study. These campus policies are often based on the specific curricular goals established at each college. Depending on the policies of a student’s home college, charges for off-campus study may be based upon the program’s cost, or may be based upon the college’s own tuition. Additionally, some colleges may assess special fees for off-campus study.

As a result, students should check with their Off-Campus Study Office and their Financial Aid Office to confirm how their college charges students for off-campus study programs, what additional campus fees may apply, and how financial aid may be used toward the cost of their program.

Note: Pricing for the Oak Ridge Science Semester in fall 2012 is still being determined and will be updated in the coming weeks.
