ACM Open Education Summer Sprint

The Open Education Summer Sprint is an innovative initiative designed to catalyze cross-institutional collaboration and advance the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) across
Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) schools. This four-day intensive workshop will bring
together Biology faculty from four ACM institutions at Colorado College in the summer of 2025 to
explore, evaluate, adapt, and create discipline-specific Open Educational Resources (OER).

During the Summer Sprint, the project team will explore the landscape of Open Education (OE),
and collaboratively develop OER that will strengthen their pedagogy and highlight freely available
resources for ACM students and faculty.

The project leverages Colorado College’s experienced OE team (the library and Crown Center for
Teaching) to support faculty throughout the OER development process. By focusing on a single
discipline, this pilot program will demonstrate the potential for OE to enhance pedagogy, reduce
costs for students, and foster a culture of openness and collaboration across ACM institutions.

All developed resources and materials will be made accessible through Colorado College’s
institutional repository, ensuring long-term availability and impact beyond the initial participating
schools.
