About the Contest
The Nick Adams Short Story Contest, which ran from 1973 to 2024, was established with funds from an anonymous donor to encourage fiction writing at ACM colleges. The contest was open to students enrolled at ACM colleges, who submitted their entries to the English department on their home campus. A prominent writer served as the contest’s final judge each year and selected the winning story from among the finalists.
