Colorado College students Zoe Osterman (’11), Holly MacBride (’10), and Jacquie Tilden (’11) take a break from re-cementing a water pump in the rural village of Chilati, India. The project reduced the amount of standing water collected around the pump which serves as a breeding ground for mosquitos and malaria. The students were part of a Colorado College service learning trip to India, working with the non-governmental organization (NGO) Maitri. Students participating in the new ACM summer program in India will also be working with Maitri on similar types of projects in both Pune and rural villages in India’s Melghat region.
