New India Summer Program Set to Begin

New India Summer Program Set to Begin February 6, 2009

ACM is pleased to introduce a new summer immersion program in India, scheduled to begin in Summer 2009.  The ACM India Summer Program: Service Learning & Cultural Immersion will be based in Pune, India, and is designed for students interested in working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and immersing themselves in Indian culture.

The program will be six weeks in length, starting in mid-June, and includes significant time working with an NGO in either the city of Pune or a rural village in the Melghat region.  Students will also take Marathi language classes, in addition to classes and field trips focused on Indian culture.  A homestay with a family or a living experience in a rural village for the duration of the program further enhances the cultural immersion experience.

Applications for the program are due March 15, 2009.  For more information, please go to www.acm.edu/indiasummer.

This program was established with generous support from the MacArthur Foundation.
