India, Fall 2009
This was taken on the final day of Ganpathi, the raucous and fascinating 10 day festival devoted to the elephant-headed god Ganesh. It pictures a group of artists making temporary street art with colored sands near the beginning of the Immersion Procession of Ganesh. The incredible thing about this art was its fleeting lifespan: it was to be trampled by millions of feet in about a half hour, but that did not dissuade the artists.
