Monmouth College graduate Joan Rezner Gundersen and her husband, Robert, have made a $500,000 estate gift to the college that will go toward the history department and the library. Recognized as a pioneer in the women’s studies movement, Gundersen has taught at St. Olaf College and California State University-San Marcos and has served as a consultant on women’s studies. She said her career outlook was forever changed by participating in ACM’s Newberry Seminar: Research in the Humanities in Chicago. Her original plan was to be a high school history teacher, but the experience at the Newberry Library got her “hooked” on research.
