When Chicago Program Faculty Dorothy Burge and the students in her Human Rights Seminar went to a community discussion and premiere of the film “The School Project: Restoring Justice,” they had an unexpected opportunity to meet mayoral candidate Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.
Garcia, who is going head-to-head with incumbent Mayor Rahm Emanuel in a hotly-contested runoff election on April 7, talked to the audience gathered at North Lawndale College Prep for the event sponsored by The School Project and Free Spirit Media.
With Garcia are Nathaniel Wienen (Carleton College), Dorothy Burge, Jessica Ramirez (Coe College), Angela Kong (Colorado College), and Corey Lunden (Earlham College).
This was the second time in this election season that Angela Kong was in the right place at the right time. Earlier in the semester, she was with a group that had their photo taken with Emanuel.
