“The first part of our week-long safari trip in Northern Botswana was spent on the Okovango Delta. We rode in hand dug canoes called mokoros, as local guides poled us along. The grass was extremely tall and enclosed around us as we poled by. Hippo snorts could be heard in the near distance as we moved along. This photo was taken on the two hour mokoro ride to our campsite. Later, my poler, Leiku, taught me how to pole a mokoro by myself.”
