Tempting treats arrayed at food stalls in Shanghai … revelers enjoying parades and festivals in Brazil and Costa Rica … a student’s host mom in Tanzania giving a lesson in making chapatis for dinner. And, wait a second, is that a bagpiper playing in Jordan?
These are just a few of the photos snapped by students while they were on ACM study away programs that are in this year’s Off-Campus Study Photo Contest. In all, 108 images were submitted by 37 students who studied on ACM programs around the world in spring and fall 2017.
Now in its tenth year, the contest celebrates the cross-cultural learning and transformational experiences of study away and provides an opportunity for alumni of ACM off-campus study programs to share their photos and experiences.
You can be a part of the contest by going to the ACM Facebook page and picking your favorite pictures for the Fans’ Choice Award. Browse through the photos and cast “likes” for as many or few as you choose. The student who took the photo with the most votes will win the Fans’ Choice award and a $100 prize. Voting is open until noon (CST) on Monday, February 26.
Four prize-winning photos will also be selected by the contest’s panel of judges. In making their selections, the judges will look for creative, artistic, and thoughtfully-composed photos that transcend a typical tourist shot and indicate cross-cultural learning by students. Prizes of up to $350 for 1st Place will be awarded and the winners announced in early March.
