Fans’ Choice Voting Is Underway in the Fifth Annual Off-Campus Study Photo Contest

Fans’ Choice Voting Is Underway in the Fifth Annual Off-Campus Study Photo Contest December 11, 2012

Your votes (yes, that’s plural) count!

The polls are open on the ACM Facebook page to vote for the Fans’ Choice Award in the annual Off-Campus Study Photo Contest. Each photo you “Like” will receive a vote. Voting will continue through Monday, December 17, when the Fans’ Choice winner will be announced.

“Lazy Day on the Island” by Jake Owens (Monmouth College) won the Fans’ Choice Award in the 2011-12 Off-Campus Study Photo Contest.

Students at ACM colleges who have studied on programs around the world submitted photos for the contest through their colleges’ off-campus study offices. Ninety-five photos are entered in this year’s contest and all of them are posted on the Facebook page, along with the students’ descriptions of their images.

This is the second year for the Fans’ Choice Award. The photo contest was begun in 2008-09 as part of ACM’s 50th anniversary celebration, and proved to be so popular that it has become a yearly tradition. The contest is a reminder of the ACM member colleges’ commitment to off-campus study and five decades of collaboration in offering international and domestic programs for students.

Lazy Day on the Island,” taken by Jake Owens from Monmouth College during a biology study trip to the Galapagos Islands, was the winner of last year’s Fans’ Choice Award.

A panel of judges for the photo contest will select a Grand Prize photo and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photos in each of three categories: people, stories, and artistry. Honorable Mention photos may also be selected. The Fans’ Choice Award photo will join all of the other winning photos in a traveling exhibit to ACM campuses in 2013. A schedule of the exhibit will be announced soon.
