Recent workshop sessions and series have focused on antiracism and inclusive equity, student mental health and well-being, strategies to support the retention and success of minoritized faculty, and other topics.
Academic Leadership Fellowships
Funded by a $1.5 million grant from the Mellon Foundation, ten tenured humanities faculty were nominated by an ACM member college and selected through a competitive application process to serve a two-year term as an ACM Academic Leadership Fellow (June 2023-June 2025). Directed by senior academic leaders on their campuses, fellows support strategic and operational initiatives. Project-based work, paired with mentorship and ACM-led professional development, enables fellows to develop and expand their knowledge, skills, and capacities as academic leaders.
Anti-Racism Workshops
The 14 ACM colleges aim to address the institutional and structural forms of racism that have contributed to the differential experiences and outcomes for students, faculty, and staff from minoritized backgrounds. In addition to community building activities and data collection and analysis strategies, the ACM colleges hosts an Anti-Racism Workshop series designed to assist faculty and staff develop anti-racism skills and knowledge to enhance teaching, learning, and faculty/student well-being.
Virtual Workshops
The ACM hosts a series of quarterly workshops for faculty and staff on topics of emerging importance in the liberal arts context. Past sessions have focused on student mental health and well-being. Among a number of topics being considered for future sessions is strategies for navigating circumstances, sometimes complicated, in which principles of academic freedom collide with diversity and inclusive equity strategies.
