I love this heartwrenching and funny story about the restrictions that challenge Clementine’s love for Meredith in a confined but lively community of eagle-eyed seniors.”

ACM: What sparked your interest in writing, and how did you get started writing fiction?
Dietz: I grew up loving to read and had always been curious about writing so I could create exactly the sort of stories I wanted to read. In high school, I took a novel writing class where I dove head first into writing, going above and beyond the requirements for the class and falling in love with creating stories. Writing helped me get through the pandemic.
ACM: How have you developed your writing while you’ve been at Knox?
Dietz: It has been wonderful to be surrounded by a community of creative writers. Whether it’s for a class or not, I know I can always find someone to give feedback on my work. Everyone is so encouraging and engaged with the creative process, it is very inspiring. Furthermore, my institution has given me the space to broaden the types of stories I tell. I started writing fantastical stories, but lately, I have been focused on smaller more relationship-based stories. I feel my writing has improved because of it.
