A Tradition of Competition and Collaboration
The 14 ACM institutions compete on the NCAA Division III level as members of several different athletic conferences. The Athletic Directors of the ACM colleges supported a collaboration in athletics by organizing annual ACM tournaments for approximately ten years.
ACM athletic conferences
The 14 ACM institutions compete on the NCAA Division III level as members of several different athletic conferences, including:
- Midwest Conference: Beloit, Cornell, Grinnell, Knox, Lake Forest, Lawrence, Monmouth, and Ripon
- Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference: Carleton, Macalester, and St. Olaf
- American Rivers Conference: Coe and Luther
- Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference: Colorado
Colorado College has the only two teams that compete at the NCAA Division I level: Men’s ice hockey in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and women’s soccer in Conference USA.
Varsity teams in selected sports at some ACM colleges compete in other athletic conferences or as independents.
