ACM: Do you have plans after graduation?
Yang: After graduation I’ll be going home to NYC and looking for employment there.
ACM: What sparked your interest in writing, and how did you get started writing fiction?
Yang: I’ve liked reading and daydreaming since I was little. I started writing fiction in my high school creative writing classes.
ACM: How have you developed your writing while you’ve been at Beloit?
Yang: Working on the Beloit Fiction Journal, my college’s literary journal, has been a very valuable experience. I was deluged in story submissions from all over the country and observed class discussions analyzing those stories. Many thanks to my teachers who encouraged me, otherwise I wouldn’t have submitted my writing to anything but class assignments.
